White Stripes Return
Two years since their last album (and one mental breakdown later), the White Stripes are getting ready to start work on album number seven. Speaking with the media last week, Jack White confirmed that the group were going to knuckle down and start recording properly just as soon as he finished his obligations with side project, The Dead Weather.
According to Jack, the new album “won't be too far off. Maybe next year”. He also noted that Meg had overcome the anxiety that forced them to cancel tour dates back in 2007. “Meg is a very shy girl, a very quiet and shy person,” he told Music Radar. “To go full-speed from a dead-halt is overwhelming, and we had to take a break … My son was being born, so we didn't have a lot of time left. We were trying to cram everything into a short time span, and we were just plowin', man! The train was out of control".
The pair's last album was 2007's 'Icky Thump', which debuted at number one in the UK charts (two in the US charts) and went on to win a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. As we understand it, the pair still insist on wearing those red outfits.
