T.I. Waves Bye Bye
Rap royalty T.I. performed a farewell show in his native Atlanta at the weekend, before shuffling behind slammer bars, yesterday (May 26).
The 'Dead And Gone' dude will spend the next 366 days doing porridge for possession of fire arms, but he made sure he went out with a, er, bang in front of his fans on Saturday.
16,000 of ‘em flocked to Atlanta’s Phillips Arena, where the chisel-jawed wordsmith wowed them with his biggest hits - 'Whatever You Like', 'Swagger Like Us', 'Live Your Life' and 'Dead And Gone' - and some special guests.
There was no sign of JT or Rihanna, but Soulja Boy came out and did his stuff and was then followed by T.I.’s brood of five young kids.
In the presence of his cute, little nippers, the remorseful rapper told the crowd: “I’m doing the best I can to get out there, man, and put something positive on these young kids. I try my best. I need y’all help, though.”
T.I.’s time in the nick looks set to be reduced, however. The rapper has spent time under house arrest and those days will be credited. As part of his plea bargain against the sentence, he also paid a $US 100,000 fine and spent the last year visiting schools and youth groups in the States warning about the dangers of violence.
The firearms charges date back to October 2007, when the rapper asked his bodyguard to purchase weapons for him. Due to a prior conviction on drug charges in 1998, however, T wasn’t actually allowed to own them and has been in skin-blistering water as a result, ever since.
You do the crime, you do the time. See you soon, (in)mate.
