8 Road Trips That Will Remind You How Lit Australia Is
Before you *literally* die of FOMO seeing all your mates hitting Europe over summer, stop for a sec and take a look in your own backyard.
Escaping the city (and your office) doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg.
In fact, you can soak up the sun, swim with dolphins, discover art, culture and incredible food right here in Australia...and all you'll need is a car.
We've teamed up with our mates at Volkswagen Polo beats to bring you a list of lit Australian road trips you NEED to tick off your bucket list. (And hey why not head out on the great open road in a Polo beats, which features an insane 300 watt sound system, perfect for the ultimate playlist ;)).
1. Great Ocean Road
Love Melbourne but keen to escape the concrete jungle? Victoria's Great Ocean Road is just as Insta-worthy as the street art and avo toast you've been filling your feed with.
Spanning from surf capital Torquay to the magnificent 12 Apostles, and ending at historic fishing village Port Fairy, the Great Ocean Road will take you from scenic cliff tops to lush rainforests and even to the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach in just two or three days.
Extra points if you can spot a Koala or Kangaroo.
2. The Eyre Peninsula

Along the way, go on a seafood safari and sample Coffin Bay's delicious oysters, glamp outback-style at Gawler Ranges, snorkel in Whyalla, or go for a spot of fishing at Tumby Bay.
3. Red Centre Way
Grab your mates and go on a journey to the heart of Australia, on a road trip of the Red Centre Way.

Not to mention, ULURU!
4. Launceston to Hobart
If you're more of a foodie and art lover than an adventurer, a four-day jaunt from Hobart to Launceston could be the road trip of your dreams.
Start in Hobart at one of the cities many award-winning restaurants, chill with the penguins at Bicheno, or the seals on Bruny Island, and drink wine while you marvel at art in Launceston.

8. Darwin to Kakadu
“Moline Falls 🌿 I had no idea that Kakadu was the spectacular nature wonderland that I’ve discovered it to be! So much awe inspiring natural beauty, just as Mother Nature intended earth to remain always 🌏 I don’t know why I haven’t visited sooner. It’s insanely incredible! 💦🍃” Repost from @jewelszee
Go chasing waterfalls with a road trip from the capital of the Northern Territory to the lush and exotic Kakadu National Park.
Two hours from Darwin, you'll find cascading waterfalls, plunge pools and plenty of pristine wilderness. Oh, and some of the region's biggest saltwater crocodiles. Eep.
