A Church of Bacon exists, but people aren’t happy about it
Out of the frying pan and into your mouth, the United Church of Bacon is ironically located in Sin City – Las Vegas, Nevada.
Going to church to pray is as easy as walking to the kitchen to make bacon. But now bacon-lovers finally have a physical place to worship all things salty, fatty and delicious. #PraiseBacon
The loyal Baconite members, totalling 4,000 global so far, also oppose supernatural claims and discrimination, while simultaneously performing legal weddings and raising money for charity.
It almost sounds too good to be true, but the church has undergone extensive criticism from religious groups and US bank Wells Fargo for being “immoral” and “un-American”. One of the church founders, John Whiteside, has hit back at critics with the statement, “We enjoy people mocking us. We mock ourselves. This isn’t supposed to offend anyone.”
If it’s all in good fun, then AMEN.
