7 Different Ways To Surprise Your Special Someone This Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is fast approaching: hopes are rising, wallets are emptying and some people quite honestly don't know what to do (or don't give a f-ck, but that's another story.)
So for those of you in greater Sydney area who are fresh out of ideas about how to surprise their special someone, MTV Travel has rounded up some unique ideas that won't break the bank.
To Do - Paddle Boating, Darling Harbour
Organisers have dubbed it the 'Month of Love' and by goodness if you can't afford to fly to Venice and ride down the canal in a gondola singing 'Like A Virgin', then you can always opt for a Valentine's Day paddle boat in Darling Harbour - it's basically the same thing, right?
So if you want to recreate your favourite 'The Notebook' scene, tickets go for $30 for half an hour on a rose strewn vessel where you can spout poetry or whatever loved-up couples do these days (keep it PG). The boats are available from February 5 - March 5 between 6-11pm Wednesday through Sundays. For more info head to the official website.
To Eat - Bistro Moncur, Woollahra
Not everyone has the budget to spring for French cuisine (or flights to Paris for that matter!) Instead, why not toast bae with champagne at Bistro Moncur while tasting culinary classics at this stunning French-inspired venue.
To Drink - Hunter & Barrell, Cockle Bay Wharf
While the extensive coal-fired menu is nothing to sneeze at - no, seriously, the food is Y-U-M and perfect for sharing - Hunter & Barrel's cocktail menu is something special. Made from barrel-aged liqueurs combined with unique ingredients and smoked to perfection, you've never had a cocktail quite like this. We recommend the 'The Chieftan' (pictured) infused with rosemary, prosciutto, Belvedere, Midori and fresh watermelon. One won't be enough.
To Surprise - Escape Hunt, CBD
If you're keen for something a little less sappy and a little more action-filled this Valentine's Day, why not grab some other couples and experience 'Escape Hunt'. Basically you get locked in a themed room for 60 minutes and are given a bunch of clues and puzzles to solve hopefully before the time runs out! It's best with more than four people (more heads for thinking!) We doubt you've ever had a Valentine's Day like it.
To Watch - Sydney Hills Outdoor Cinema, Castle Hill
Closing weekend of the Sydney Hills Outdoor Cinema also happens to be Valentine's weekend! If you're keen for bae with a side of Leonardo DiCaprio, we recommend 'The Revenant' on Friday February 12. Get your Bond on with Daniel Craig in 'Spectre' on Saturday February 13 and on Valentine's night have alugh with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in 'Sisters' (also a good one for galfrands to celebrate Galentine's Day!)
To Listen - At Sunset's 'Kiss Me' National Tour
With a tour name like 'Kiss Me', tickets to At Sunset is basically the perfect prezzie to surprise your girl or guy with on Valentine's Day. While the nation-wide shows don't kick iff until March, start the countdown and spread the love throughout the year.
To Send - Little Flowers, Various Locations
Finally, it's the thought that counts, not the size of the gift. Sending a stunning bunch of 'Little Flowers' is the perfect treat for your loved one not only on Valentine's Day, but any day of the week. Just order online the week or even day before and the perfect sized bunch will be sent for $30 (including delivery!)
Happy Valentine's Day in advance lovers!
