Kristen Stewart talks Twilight reboot, says she's 'interested' in starring
Edward Cullen. Bella Swan. Jacob Black. Vampires. Werewolves. Volturi. Imprinting. Forks, Washington.
If none of these words are incting a hidden excitement of the Twilight Saga, or if you have no idea what these things are, then we advise you to go get a check-up with your local GP to look at how your body is dealing with living under a rock. Metaphorically, we hope.
For those of you whose hearts have jumped a beat; and whose minds just went back to the thoughts of the countless hours spent reading of Edward's topaz-eyes and pale, shimmering skin; we've got some exciting news!
But, if you're someone that just exhaled in annoyance at the title of this article, cringing at the thought of Twilight's return, read on anyway and give it all another chance...no one likes a Debbie Downer.
In a recent interview with Uproxx writer, Mike Ryan, Kristen Stewart discussed the idea of a Twilight reboot, saying, "Yeah, sure. I would be interested". But only if it were a reboot with other actors.
Sorry if we've just made your heart break a little, but if there's to be a new Twilight film, we aren't going to be seeing the delectable Robert Pattinson & Kristen together.
Stewart went on to explain how, "genuinely, heavily entrenched" she was in the films, and how she "loved doing it...But that doesn't mean that I want to keep doing it".
It's no lie that the Twilight franchise has loomed over Stewart's career, and although it shot her to fame, it's drawn attention away from her true talent. She explained that many people don't take her seriously as an actor, because of the films, even though she recently won the César Award (a.k.a. The French version of the Oscar).
"Twilight infiltrated everyone's [perception]", she explained. Jesse Eisenberg, her co-star in their latest flick American Ultra, supported her remark, saying "if you’re in a really popular thing, it gives people license to criticize you...it’s human instinct to take down that what is successful".
The public can be a very vindictive bunch, just like the Voluri.
Despite this, Stewart has a lot of love for her five years with the loved saga. When speaking to Patti Smith, from Interview Magazine, she said "Anybody who wants to talk sh*t about Twilight, I completely get it, but there's something there that I'm endlessly, and to this day, f**king proud of. My memory of it felt—still feels—really good".
Whilst we're a little saddened that we won't be seeing our favourite couple on screen again, we're revelling in memory lane right now and have the feeling we'll be rattling off Twilight quotes all....day....long...
