#MTVFestivalSeason: Kasabian, Olly Murs & Sam Smith Make V Festival's 20th Birthday One To Remember
With the sun shining over Hylands Park, the Chelmsford leg of V Festival 2015 kicked off with Imelda May working the Virgin Media Stage, and The Coronas doing the honours on our very own MTV Stage.
As international acts from New York's Bleachers to Swedish mega babe Tove Lo alternated between rocking the crowd and visiting us backstage, there were more than a few moments that stood out, making this year's V Festival one of our favourites to date.
Labrinth's Big Question
As we already reported, 'Earthquake' singer Labrinth got down on one knee during his set on the MTV Stage, to propose to longtime girlfriend Muz. Since she said yes, we're assuming that means we're invited to the wedding, right Lab?
Hozier's Take On Ariana Grande
Irish dreamboat Hozier obviously enjoyed covering Ariana Grande's 'Problem' during his visit to Radio 1's Live Lounge, so he whipped it out again for the V Festival crowd, sending them in to an absolute frenzy.
Jess Glynne's Return To Form
You would never guess that Jess Glynne had just undergone vocal chord surgery with the show she put on for V Festival's 20th birthday. A hit-packed set, including 'My Love', 'Right Here' and 'Hold My Hand' made for the perfect sunny day soundtrack.
Sam Smith's Amy Winehouse Tribute
Another of our favourite covers at V Festival was Sam Smith's take on the late Amy Winehouse's 'Tears Dry On Their Own'. Needless to say, it almost reduced us to tears.
Olly Murs'... Err.. Thrusting
It wouldn't be an Olly Murs performance without a good pair of tight trousers and a whole lotta thrusting. The Essex boy was clearly excited to perform for his home crowd, bringing Ella Eyre on stage to sing 'Up', the duet he usually shares with Demi Lovato.
While Kasabian's entire set – including fan favourite 'Shoot The Runner' and a cover of Fatboy Slim's 'Praise You' – was pretty much flawless, their dedication of 'Goodbye Kiss' to the late Cilla Black was particularly poignant.
Stay tuned to MTV for more news and reviews from V Festival 2015, and make sure you watch MTV Music in September, for highlights from the show!
