BTS' Global Debut Of 'Dynamite' At The MTV VMAs Was Legendary

BTS performed their explosive new single, "Dynamite", for the first time ever at the 2020 MTV VMAs performance, and it was legendary. Expectations exceeded.

Sunday evening (local time) saw BTS performing for the first time ever at the VMAs 2020, as well as giving their explosive new single "Dynamite" its first-ever live performance run. Dressed in suits, the K-Pop group – comprised of Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, V, Suga, J-Hope and RM – danced and sang in front of a backdrop showing changing New York City scenes which mirrored the theme of this year's VMAs; a celebration of the city. This marked the first time BTS had performed "Dynamite" ever – and it was spine-tingling, to say the least.

Ahead of the MTV VMAs 2020 performance, the band admitted they were “very nervous” and said they were dedicating their performance to their fans, ARMY. “We treasure every moment with them,” they said.

The band has currently picked up three MTV VMAs: the group now has three shiny Moon People for Best Group, Best Pop and Best K-Pop.

"Dynamite", released August 21, broke YouTube's record for the first video to rack up more than 100 million views in just 24 hours.

"It's a really fun disco-pop track about doing what we can do, even when things don't work out as planned," RM told MTV. Previously, the band had told BBC, they wanted the song to convey “positive vibes, energy, hope, love, the purity, everything". In another chat with BBC, they'd revealed: “If [Dynamite] makes one person happier, then that’s more than enough for us.”

The track features soaring hooks paired with RM’s more grounded baritone. "I am kind of in charge of English here, so in many parts of this song, you can hear me singing in the background with a low voice," RM told MTV. "Listen closely."

"The singing in 'Dynamite,' it wasn't easy," J-Hope added, "because the song is high-pitched."

Congrats to BTS for their first-ever VMAs performance! These legends killed it!
