Rolling Stone Awards!
Music guru Molly Meldrum has led the honours at the ‘Australian Rolling Stone Awards’ this week!
The 65-year-old Aussie icon - who’s currently undergoing treatment at a rehab centre after a near-fatal fall at his Melbourne home in December - has been crowned the winner of the ‘The Immortal’ lifetime achievement award for his outstanding contribution to pop culture.
Also scooping a gong at the annual Sydney bash were fellow music veterans and recently reunited Cold Chisel, who took home the prestigious ‘Rolling Stone Award.’
Meanwhile, the unstoppable Gotye will need to make some more space on his increasingly crowded mantle piece for his latest trophy – ‘Best Male.’
And his duet buddy on ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ and rising sensation Kimbra also has plenty to celebrate after nabbing the ‘One To Watch’ award.
Other locals toasting Australia Day early were Sydney’s favourite four piece The Jezabels, who picked up the ‘Best Album’ prize for their debut release ‘Prisoner,’ and quirky Brisbane beauty Megan Washington was named ‘Best Female.’
Meanwhile, US indie fave Florence and The Machine was recognised from across the pond with the ‘Best Act’ award, and legendary rockers the Foo Fighters, who recently toured Down Under, were treated to the ‘Best Live Act’ gong.
