This weekend stars gathered at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica for the ‘2012 Do Something Awards,’ which honour celebrities and young adults for their charitable and activist efforts.
Taking to the blue carpet was ‘Glee’ star Lea Michelle in a stunning ivory Armani gown complete with plunging neckline. The actress was accompanied by her on-and-off-screen boyfriend Cory Monteith, and the pair picked up the top awards in the ‘Female Television’ and ‘Male Television’ category.
“So excited to have just won a DO SOMETHING AWARD!!!! Thank you to everyone at VH1 and @dosomething!! #dosomethingawards2012” Lea tweeted after the show.
Meanwhile, rapper Will.I.Am looked dapper in a green suit and later on bagged himself an award in the ‘Music Artist’ section.
“We have to care about our own communities a little bit more,” said Will.I.Am during his acceptance speech, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“America has to wake up.”
Other winners on the night included Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon for ‘Best Couple,’ while Ben Affleck and The Eastern Congo Initiative scooped an award for ‘Best Facebook Campaign.’
The event was hosted by ‘New Girl’ stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris, who took the reins from last year’s host, ‘Glee’ funnywoman Jane Lynch. Comedian Will Ferrell and actresses Kristen Bell and Ashley Greene also made an appearance, and taking to the stage to perform was rapper Flo Rida, smooth crooner Ne-Yo and alternative rock band Fun.
