The Next Big Thing
Here at MTV we’ve gazed into our crystal ball and made some predictions on who’s going to make it big in 2011!
Check out the list of so-hot-right-now stars below…
With a stack of catchy, guitar-driven pop-rock tracks, a charismatic frontman and a female drummer, Neon Trees are definitely one to watch in 2011! The rockers from Utah are already creating plenty of buzz around the globe, having opened for both The Killers and 30 Seconds to Mars. Their debut single ‘Animal’ is sitting pretty at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in the US, and we’re sure there’s plenty more to come with their cracker first album ‘Habits’ out soon!
This pint-sized diva whipped the world into a frenzy with her debut single in 2010, so we’re putting money on her blowing up next year! The ‘Whip My Hair’ singer, daughter of Hollywood superstars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, has already been signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label at just 10 years old! Willow’s got the talent and the attitude to make it big – we can’t wait to see what she’ll do next!
This electro-pop outfit from Melbourne really gained momentum in 2010. Masterminded by Benjamin Plant, Miami Horror released their debut album ‘Illumination’ this year, spawning several successful singles including ‘Sometimes’ and ‘I Look To You’. They’ll be hitting the festival circuit this summer as part of the massive Summadayze line up – make sure you check them out!
His smash debut single ‘Cooler Than Me’ has already been in the charts for over 20 weeks, but we have a feeling there’s plenty more to come from Mike Posner! The talented 22 year old released his debut album ‘31 Minutes to Takeoff’ in August and his second single ‘Please Don’t Go’ is heating up the Aussie airwaves right now. Watch this space!
This 18-year-old singing sensation showed plenty of promise when she took to the stage in season one of ‘America’s Got Talent’. Although she failed to take home the title, we’re pretty sure Alexis wasn’t too bummed out – she’s since been signed by hip hop superstar Jay-Z and released the poptastic floor-filler ‘Happiness’. With her current single burning up the Aussie charts and an album slated for release in 2011, expect big things from Alexis!
