New Zealanders Are Divided After Someone Called The Kiwi A "Fat Flightless F*ck"
Time to forget the 2017 election, the real campaign you should be following is NZ's 'Bird of the Year' competition.
Last week, someone slammed the Kiwi as a "Fat Flightless F*ck" & people don't know how to feel.
The event aims to raise awareness for NZ’s unique native birds and the threats they face by asking people to vote for their favourite species.
But this year's comp got a bit too heated, according to the NZ Herald someone even "lodged more than 100 fraudulent votes for the white-faced heron."

Things really kicked off last week when this Instagram account (@gullforglory) posted the following pic:
The account - which is lobbying for the 'Black Bill Gull' - also posted a series of memes hating on other native birds.
The 'Black Robin' was labelled a 'No Neck Pest':
And they also caused further controversy when they called the Kererū an 'Overweight Tree Rat':
Other disses included calling the Pukeko a 'Homeless Chicken', the Barn Owl a 'Speed Dealer' and the Kakapo a 'Sex Pest'.
Well, New Zealander's were clearly divided over their beloved national symbol:
