Over the weekend the Red Hot Chili Peppers were forced to cancel a headlining concert appearance as lead singer Anthony Kiedis was rushed to hospital.

Bassist Flea made the announcement to the crowd on stage at KROQ's Weenie Roast.

"He's on his way to the hospital right now and we're unable to play this evening," Flea told the crowd. "We're really sad. We love you so much. We love to rock... Unfortunately, there's a medical thing that happened and he needed to deal with it." 

A rep from KROQ confirmed to Billboard that Kiedis was experiencing extreme stomach pain and so was taken from the event to the hospital via an ambulance. 

Another RHCP band member Chad Smith took to Twitter to reassure fans:
