'What’s The Hold-Up': Ellen DeGeneres Awkwardly Asks Justin Bieber Why He Hasn’t Had Kids Yet

Ellen Degeneres Goes Full Intrusive Mother on Justin Bieber In Front Of A Live Audience

Ah, parents. They're so desperate for those cute little grandkids that they'll ask for them, point blank, with no regard for your privacy or obvious discomfort.

At least, that's what seems to be happening in Justin Bieber's latest interview on the troubled Ellen DeGeneres Show, where the talk show host straight up asks the 26-year-old star to explain the "hold-up" on him and partner Hailey Bieber not yet having kids.

"How many kids are you going to have and when?" Ellen began, as a stunned Justin stared back at his host in disbelief. "I'm going to have as many as Hailey is wishing to push out," he said. "I'd love to have myself a little tribe. But, yeah, it's her body and whatever she wants to do." Indeed.

But Ellen's parental cosplay didn't stop there. "What are you all waiting for? You know you love kids. You're so good with kids. What's the hold-up?"

"Thank you for saying that," he politely began. "I think the issue – there's not really an issue, but I think Hailey still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman. And I think she just wants to – yeah, I think she just is not ready yet, and I think that's ok," to which the audience broke out in applause.

It's not clear what they were applauding. Was it Justin's poised demeanor given the invasiveness of the questions? A "yeah Ellen, she's not ready!" clap? Or was it just the audience, doing what they could, to make it all stop? We may never know.

Ellen, of course, is not exactly a stranger to controversy. The US talk show host remains on air despite a year of allegations that former and current employees of the show regularly dealt with racism, bullying, intimidation, with later reports also pointing to a culture of sexual misconduct.

None of that stopped Ellen from winning Best Daytime Talk Show at the 2020 E! People's Choice Awards last month, though. The perfect troll, if you ask me.
