Laverne Cox to be first transgender celebrity immortalised at Madam Tussauds
You will be able to get up close and personal with Laverne Cox – or at least her wax figure – at Madam Tussauds in San Francisco after it’s unveiling on June 26.
As an avid spokesperson for the LGBTQI community and an Emmy-nominee for her role on Orange Is The New Black (back June 12!), in which she also plays a transgender woman, we couldn’t be happier for her!
Cox made the announcement via Twitter and also accepted the honour humbly via a statement: "When I think about being who I am, a black trans woman from a working class background raised in Mobile, Alabama, this honour feels even more improbable and extraordinary.”
“I hope that this will be a source of inspiration for every one who encounters it to believe that their dreams matter and are possible."
Congratulations Laverne!
