Meet Rohit Roy, The Delightful TikToker Who's On A Mission To Quit Fizzy Drinks

One way to regain a sense of control in a pandemic is to set a daily goal. The wonderful TikToker, Rohit Roy offers a masterclass on this very sentiment.

I reckon we can all agree that 2020 has been a disaster for our collective mental health. And it's still July.

Sadly, the stats check out. In recent months, GPs are writing more and more scripts that tackle conditions like depression and anxiety. The use of anti-anxiety meds in particular is up 31%.

Maybe this shouldn’t be surprising. Even experts aren’t sure how this cursed pandemic will end, and that uncertainty hits hard.

One way to regain a sense of control in a pandemic is to set a small daily goal. The wonderful TikToker Rohit Roy offers a masterclass on this very sentiment. He's documenting his journey to kick his fizzy drink habit on the advice of his doctor and in doing so, is spreading an absurd amount of joy to a now-capitvated global audience.

“Hi everyone,” Rohit says in his first video, looking a bit down. “I have an addiction of drinking fizzy drinks. I do drink them a lot. Doctors have told me to stop immediately but I haven’t been able to do so yet. So I've decided to use some help from TikTok. I know this is a fun platform but I’m just trying to get some help so, thank you for your support in advance."

Rohit promises to deliver daily TikTok updates on his progress. “I don’t want to delay it anymore,” he adds.

And given the dystopian world we've somehow found ourselves, checking on Rohit’s daily progress is a goddamn delight. Here’s a much more cheerful update after a milestone 50 days of no fizzy drinks.

By the way, I'm not a super positive person – but when I caught a glance of myself in the mirror watching once of Rohit’s TikToks and saw an expression I didn’t even know my face could make. It was the 'my heart is so full of rainbows and sprinkles I think it's going to explode' face. Honestly, I looked like a cartoon fairy.

Rohit’s TikToks are a great reminder that achieving something small every day can do wonders for our mental health. Rohit genuiely looks healthier and more cheerful every day. Thanks for the inspo, Rohit! We couldn't be happier for you.
