So Who Is Australia's New Bachelor, Jimmy Nicholson?

Network 10 just announced Australia's next Bachelor....

I don't mean to alarm anyone, but a new Bachelor is upon us and he's very good-looking.

Yup, meet Jimmy Nicholson, 31-year-old model-turned-pilot (same) described as "an intelligent and passionate go-getter who is ready to find his happily ever after." Like many of us, the arrival of COVID-19 a year ago gave Jimmy some time to reflect on his life so far and what he saw for his future. He decided that while his career was important, love was more important. Aw.

"I am a big believer in embracing any opportunity that presents itself, especially if it has the potential to change your life for the better," Jimmy says on becoming Australia's 2021 Bachelor.

"The journey ahead will be one of the most challenging experiences that I have ever undertaken, however I am very excited to meet someone that I could potentially spend the rest of my life with."

In casting the airline pilot and "self-confessed romantic" for the new series, Network 10 breaks with its tendency to give the coveted role to known media personalities, for example, reality TV stalwart Locky Gilbert and rugby player Nick Cummins. Jimmy will also be the series' first Bachelor who is a person of colour (he has both New Zealand and Fijian heritage).

As always, the ninth series of The Bachelor will be hosted by the legendary Osher Günsberg. While we don't yet have a date as to when Jimmy Nicholson will be entering our lives, roses-and-all, we'll be sure to let you know more info as soon as it drops.

The Bachelor will air on Channel 10. Catch up on past seasons of the show on 10play, and read our interview with past bachelor, Locky Gilbert, here.

Editor's Note: MTV and Network 10 are both subsidiaries of ViacomCBS.
