Attention all! Please stop doing your silly lives for a second because we’ve just received word that Kim Kardashian has made an appearance at the launch of Kanye West’s wildly-anticipated new album DONDA; repeat, Kim Kardashian is at large at the launch of DONDA. And between wishing her ex-husband a happy birthday on Instagram, sounding unbothered by Kanye’s rumoured fling with Irina Shayk and going on a family museum trip with him and the family last weekend, we must surmise that there is no ex as mature, as emotionally evolved, as Kim Kardashian. Receipts below.
If you hadn’t heard, this week has been rife with rumours that the release of Kanye West’s new album DONDA was upon us and today – the 23rd of July – finally marks its official release. At the time of writing, though, it’s Thursday night in the US and Kanye just premiered the album via a huge, sold-out listening event that was live streamed from Atlanta via Apple Music.
And while fans knew to expect potential verses from Travis Scott and Baby Keem, what they didn’t expect was a surprise verse from none other than Jay Z, who features on the DONDA’s final track reportedly titled “Guess Who’s Going To Jail Tonight?" Have a listen here.
Kanye West and Jay Z have had a famously prickly relationship, and the two haven’t worked together since both featuring on Drake’s “Pop Style” in 2016. “This might be the return of the throne”, Jay Z sings on the new album, a clear hat tip to the pair’s 2012 collaborative EP Watch The Throne. Word has it the album also features Playboi Carti, Don Toliver, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, Pop Smoke and Vory.
In the words of one very overwhelmed Twitter fan: “Peace has been restored. The pandemic is over". Amen to that.
