Chrissy Teigen is no stranger to some Twitter drama but after food writer Alison Roman criticised her in a recent interview, Chrissy has decided to “take a little break” from her social media.
She’s decided to switch her Twitter account to private saying “I really hate what this drama has caused this week”.
For those who haven't been following along, here is everything you need to know about the drama that went down over the weekend.
“What Chrissy Teigen has done is so crazy to me. She had a successful cookbook. And then it was like: Boom, line at Target. Boom, now she has an Instagram page that has over a million followers where it’s just, like, people running a content farm for her." she said. That horrifies me and it’s not something that I ever want to do. I don’t aspire to that.”
Before Chrissy even had a chance to respond the internet kinda went into overdrive with the Twitter-verse snapping back at her and calling out her for trashing successful women of colour.
Chrissy is usually queen of the clapback but Alison's comments seemed to hit deeper. She made it very clear that she was really upset and hurt by her comments.
In an extended thread she hit back saying, “this is a huge bummer and hit me hard. I have made her recipes for years now, bought the cookbooks, supported her socially and praised her in interviews”. She even revealed that she has signed on to produce a show for Alison.
She went on to say “I started cravings because I wanted something for myself. I wanted something John (Legend) didn’t buy, I wanted something to do that calmed me, made me happy and made others happy, too. Cravings isn’t a ‘machine’ or ‘farmed content’ – it’s me and 2 other women.”
As always - John made it clear that he's her biggest fan.
As the drama continued to roll out over the weekend Alison made a formal apology to Chrissy saying “I’m genuinely sorry I caused you pain with what i said”.
Whilst fans were coming to her defence, the criticism Chrissy experienced was pretty overwhelming so she’s decided to take a step back from it all.
In her tweet she revealed “I really hate what this drama has caused this week. Calling my kids Petri dish babies or making up flight manifests with my name on them to ‘Epstein island’, to justify someone else’s disdain with me seems gross to me so I’m gonna take a little break. This is what always happens. The first day, a ton of support, then the next, 1 million reasons as to why you deserved this. It never fails”.
We’re hoping this is the end of this saga and Chrissy take some time away from the drama.
