ICYMI: Kylie Minogue Just Won Her Legal Battle Against Kylie Jenner
Looks like Kylie Minogue just won her legal battle against Kylie Jenner... For now.
ICYMI, Kylie Jenner applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office back in 2014 to buy a trademark on her first name, but the iconic pop singer wasn't having it.
Minogue blocked the lip kit mogul's request to trademark her first name, “Jenner is a ‘secondary reality television personality’ who has received criticism from disability rights groups and African-American communities," her reps argued.
Ouuuuuuch.
Minogue's legal reps added that the singer was an ‘internationally-renowned performing artist, humanitarian and breast cancer activist known worldwide simply as “Kylie”.’
According to NME, the U.S. patent office rejected Jenner's claim, but it looks like KJ won't go down without a fight and is already filing an appeal.
Minogue is set to release new music this year and recently signed a record deal with BMG.
“So happy to announce my new record label is BMG,” she told fans. “I promise you will have my heart and soul in this next record.”
Here's hoping things get sorted soon, as there can only be one Kylie.
