Adam Brody Reckons That Marissa Shouldn't Have Died In The O.C. & Big Same
We're not issuing a spoiler warning for this one because at this point it is history. It is early 00's culture.
But, one of the defining pop cultural moments of the early 00's was Marissa Cooper's death in The O.C. It took the entire world by storm as we came to grips with the fact that Mischa Barton wouldn't be on our screens as Marissa anymore.
The death also caused a lot of division among fans and critics of the show, and one person who wasn't a big fan of it was Adam Brody, who portrayed Seth Cohen on the show.
In a recent interview with GQ, Brody disagreed with Barton's assertion she made earlier this year that Cooper's death made sense.
"I disagree,” Brody said.
“Put her in rehab! That’s what you did with Shannen Doherty on 90210. Do a rehab season for her. Put her somewhere. It’s fine.”
Barton, who is busy now as part of the cast of The Hills: New Beginnings, said in an interview with The New York Times that she chose to exit the show, and that's why her character was killed off.
“I just had a lot in my career that I wanted to do and accomplish,” she said.
“I felt like things were really heavily reliant upon me, and I was getting no time to do any of the other offers that were out there.”
Honestly...gotta side with Brody on this one.
