Don’t Worry If You're Dumb, Mark Ronson Is Still Attracted To You Too

...

Mark Ronson came under fire last week for a very impromptu ‘coming out’ as sapiosexual on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

If you’re wondering what the term means, it’s an attraction to intelligence, and like pretty much all of us, Ronson was like ‘well yeah duh, who isn’t?’ and decided to label himself like that.

To give a bit of backstory, prior to Ronson’s interview was a package on French equality minister Marlèna Schiappa and her sapiosexual orientation. Producers backstage had a chat to Ronson, explaining it meant being attracted to intellect to which he responded, “Of course, who wouldn’t be?”

On-air, hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway asked him about the discussion and Ronson remarked, “I didn’t know that there was a word for it… but yes, I feel like I am identifying as sapiosexual.” Then they congratulated him, and the Internet went a little psycho.

The 44-year-old music producer and DJ received a lot of backlash for the statement and has now formally backtracked on his words in an interview with Rolling Stone.

“It sounds like I went on a TV show to be like, ‘Guys, I have some big news!’ And the fact that I would go on and sort of declare myself – like as a heterosexual white male – part of any marginalized community was terrifying to me, or just embarrassing,” he said.

Guess this is just another case of celebrity life where an off-the-cuff comment has blown up and they’re left scrambling to pick up the pieces.
