Bella Thorne Reportedly Raked In A Cool $1 Million A Day After Joining OnlyFans & Caused The Site To Crash

Bella Thorne has reportedly broken a record on subscription service OnlyFans, raking in a cool $1.39 million (USD $1 mill) on her very first day, and causing the site to crash completely.

UPDATE Saturday August 29, 2020: There are concerns around how the influx of celebrities on OnlyFans will negatively affect the platform for sex workers. More information here. Read more about the experience of one sex worker struggling to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic here.

Bella Thorne has reportedly broken a record on subscription service OnlyFans, raking in a cool $1.39 million (USD $1 mill) on her very first day, and causing the site to crash.

If you aren’t familiar with OnlyFans, we're disappointed. Basically, though, it allows adult performers and influencers to monetise their content by letting “fans” subscribe to certain profiles. Notable names on the site include Cardi B and The Real Housewives Of New York star, Sonja Morgan.

Last week, Bella announced she was joining the platform via Instagram, sharing a pic of herself in a bikini, wearing a diamond-encrusted necklace reading ‘SEX’.

Reps for the platform said Bella’s rate is currently USD $20 a month for subscribers, and that she’s been very active on her profile, responding to every DM and “getting to know her fans better and on a personal level”, reports the New York Post.

If you were expecting nudes from her, though, you’re the one who will be disappointed. So far, the 22-year-old former Disney star has only posted a few photos, none of them nudes, which makes sense considering she’s only the platform for research for a potential movie idea.

“It’s a feature we are researching as I’m living it currently,” she told Los Angeles Times. “What are the ins and outs? What does a platform like this do to its users? What’s the connective material between your life and your life inside the world of OnlyFans?”

“How can it change your life for the worse and the better?” she continued. “How far are you willing to go, and how far do you WANT to go? You can be me, or this talented girl from Montana, and OnlyFans could change your life — if you want it to, of course.”

It’s definitely an interesting concept for a film. Created in 2016, OnlyFans has changed the often exploitative pornography industry by giving creators more control over their content – they keep about 80% of their earnings, while the site pockets a reported 20%. For Bella, that equates to a rather large paycheck considering it was all just in the name of research. In the words of one Kim Kardashian: "Pretty legendary if you ask me". Snaps for Bella.
