Shawn Mendes Is The Latest Famous Person To Land A Netflix Documentary

Netflix's 'In Wonder' will give viewers an intimate look at Shawn Mendes' life over the last few years.

Shawn Mendes is the latest celebrity to land himself a Netflix documentary, joining the likes of Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Travis Scott

Are you even a famous music artist if you haven’t had a documentary on Netflix?

Shawn Mendes is the latest to join the growing line-up of music-centred docos that include Taylor Swift’s Miss Americana, Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé, Travis Scott's Look Mom I Can Fly, Gaga: Five Foot Two, Quincy and, most recently, BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky. In yet another example of Netflix killing it on the original content front, the subscription service is set to release a doco on Shawn Mendes that, considering his fan base, is sure to be a big hit.

In Wonder will be a feature-length film that focuses on Mendes' life and journey, following him on his 2019 self titled world tour and throughout other key moments over the past few years. Veteran music video director Grant Singer is at its helm. Andrew Gertler, Ben Winston and Mendes himself serve as the documentary's executive producers with Saul Germaine, p.g.a and James Haygood credited as producers. The documentary is set to be released just days ahead of Mendes' fourth studio album, Wonder.

"Been working on this documentary for so long & am so excited to finally share it with you all," Shawn Mendes tweeted after the documentary was announced to be coming to Netflix.

Mendes released the title track from his upcoming fourth studio album, Wonder, at the start of October. In its accompanying music video, he can be seen singing the tune while riding a train before running to the woods to a cliff.

In other Mendes news, he recently announced an official new annual TIFF award, to be awarded at the festival. Created in partnership with his Shawn Mendes Foundation (SMF), it’ll be given to an emerging or young filmmaker for excellence in creating a film that focuses on world issues important to the youth of today.

Wonder will drop December 4, while the Mendes documentary In Wonder will be coming to Netflix on November 23rd.

There's no official trailer for the documentary just yet, but you can catch Shawn Mendes' music video for his title track "Wonder" here:
