Will Hilary Duff's 'Younger' Spinoff Fill The Very Large 'Lizzie McGuire' Void In Our Hearts?
There’s been lots of talk about the Lizzie McGuire reboot. And we mean LOTS. First it was on, then it was off. Well, "on hold".
Then Hilary Duff hinted at a possible reunion of ~Lizzie & Paolo~ and we were all like WTF. Even Duff was not impressed.
Basically, it’s been A LOT - an emotional rollercoaster for us all.
So while all this ‘what the hell is happening with the Lizzie McGuire reboot’ stuff is up in the air, the Duff-ettes might have something else to look forward to: Hilary Duff is set to star in a Younger spinoff (PRAISE. Be.)
According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Younger creator Darren Star is responsible for the spinoff of the TV Land series that follows Liza Miller (Sutton Foster), a single mum in her 40s posing as a perky millennial to nab her dream job in publishing (trust us, it’s a tough gig that publishing, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do).
But instead of Liza hoggin’ all the attention, the proposed spinoff will be built around her co-worker and friend, Kelsey Peters instead (played by Duff, obvs). The uber ambitious Peters, who is currently in the midst of trying to make Millennial into a big dog publisher — will star in the potential spinoff, but it’s got Lizzie fans slightly worried.
While a network hasn’t yet been decided and the pilot hasn’t been written or filmed, it begs the question: what does this mean for Lizzie McGuire? Is she on ice again? While we all love Kelsey Peters, Lizzie McGuire is our gal, y’know?
So while this Younger spinoff will plug the veritable Duff hole, it sure as hell won’t satiate our thirst for Lizzie. Now hurry up and put yo’ differences aside.
We wanna see the grown-up Lizze McGuire — for real.
