Trisha Paytas has just deleted over 1300 videos off their YouTube account, Insider reports. According to data obtained by the social media analytics site, Social Blade, Trisha Paytas’ deleted videos had amassed over one billion views in total.

On September 15, Trisha Paytas posted a video to their YouTube channel entitled “addressing everything”. In the video, they spoke to the mounting criticism they’d received after a YouTuber posted a video attempting to discredit allegations they’d made.

So what happened?

Trisha Paytas makes allegations on the ‘Frenemies’ podcast

In an early episode of Frenemies, a podcast that Trisha Paytas formerly co-hosted with Ethan Klein, Paytas made serious allegations about a former school teacher.

They alleged that their Grade Six teacher sexually abused them, and was later arrested for looking up child pornography at school. Paytas named the man, encouraging viewers to look him up for proof of his convictions.

A YouTuber attempts to discredit Trisha Paytas’ allegations

A YouTuber by the name of ‘Mysterious’ posted a video attempting to discredit Paytas’ allegations. In the since-deleted video, the YouTuber claims the man Paytas named died in 2019, and that there is no evidence he was ever arrested. Insider conducted a separate search, and found no records of the man’s arrest.

For unrelated reasons, Trisha Paytas has since left Frenemies podcast during which relations between them and Ethan Klein soured quite significantly.

More commentators weighed in online, and  a wave of video exposés attempted to poke holes in many of Trisha’s allegations.

Ethan Klein removes the video in question, Trisha Paytas responds

On September 11, Ethan Klein stated that he would be removing the video containing Paytas’ allegations. Klein said he would be unlisting the video “because of the nature of these claims against this specific teacher, and the stress it's causing to his family”.

It was Trisha’s response to that mounting questioning and criticism referenced in their “addressing everything” video.

In the video, they seemingly addressed the allegations, stating they’d been “told inaccurate information”, and that they had “misspoke” about the teacher in question. They also stated that they “don’t fact-check.”

Trisha reportedly made many of the messages exchanged with Ethan Klein and Ethan’s wife Hila Klein public. They’ve since been removed; but show Ethan and Hila questioning Trisha about separate allegations of sexual assault and misconduct made against Trisha’s partner Moses Hacmon.

Accusations of sexual assault against Hacmon were made on a woman’s Instagram story in early September. He has denied the claims.

It’s hard to know for sure, but the mounting criticism against Paytas and their partner, Hacmon, plus all of the allegations surrounding them, are most likely the reason behind Paytas deleting so many of their YouTube videos; culminating in a loss of more than one billion views to their channel.
