Netflix Have Set Their Sights On The Royals

...

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (or Harry and Meghan, as they’ll soon be known) have been the talk of the town (read: world) ever since they announced that they were ‘stepping back’ from their positions as senior royals in favour of a more private life with their own cash money. Finally, after a terse response from the Queen, mass pandemonium on social media, and an incredibly petty move from the folks at Madame Tussauds of all people (literally, why?), the whole thing has kinda been resolved.

Harry and Meghan are officially out of the royal family (their request to carve out a more ‘progressive’ hybrid role by still representing the Queen, while also doing their own thing, was nixed). Harry and Meghan will no longer receive official public funding and they’ll have to pay rent to live at Frogmore Cottage and reimburse the money they spent on the recent renovations to the property, too. Their royal titles will be scratched.

While Harry and Meghan are still likely to receive a substantial amount of money from Prince Charles through that Duchy of Cornwall thing, the couple will need to make some serious dollars to maintain their regal standard of living. And that means new opportunities... perhaps with Netflix, if global chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, has his way. “Who wouldn’t be interested [in working with Harry and Meghan]? Yes, sure,” Ted told The Guardian recently.

So, what does it all mean? Can we expect some familiar faces on the next season of The Crown? A documentary spin-off? A 'Baking With Harry' special? (A girl can dream.) The opportunities really are endless. Watch this space.
