Justin Bieber Just Bagged The VMA For 2021 Artist of the Year
Nobody does it better than Biebs. The former Canadian teen sensation has come a hell of a long way since ‘Baby’, and tonight’s Artist of the Year win – his second of the night, following a win in the Best Pop category – exemplifies that better than anything.
Justice, released earlier in the year, might just be his best full-length project to date, with hits like “Peaches (feat. Daniel Caesar & Giveon)” and his recent Kid LAROI collab “Stay” ensuring that he stays hot on the charts for many a month to come.
As he slouched his way up to the stage to accept his second Moon Person for the evening from UFC star Conor McGregor, a humbled Bieber kept things subdued as he addressed the crowd, making a number of clunky COVID remarks and making shout outs to his wife Hailey and a very inconspicuous Travis Scott.
Sure, we totally thought Olivia Rodrigo was a shoo-in for this one, and that “COVID thing” line and his weird ’90s Brooklyn hip-hop inspired ‘fit might have been a little cringey, but there’s no denying the monster year that Justin’s had. Big congrats to the man!
