It’s been a minute since we’ve heard about Grimes’ and Elon Musk’s son, X Æ A-XII, but not to worry, it looks like the little bub doing just fine. Better than fine. Judging by a photo Grimes shared to her Instagram Stories this week (see here), he appears to be quite busy. 

In the snap, the seven-month old, dressed in a printed onesie, can be seen casually flipping through a book about the Hubble Space Telescope. Of course!

The light reading does make total sense for X Æ A-XII when you consider the fact that his dad is the majority owner of a NASA-certified private spaceflight company. And that Grimes told The New York Times back in October, most “stuff for babies is really just creatively bad” and that she wasn’t keen on her kid’s “first introduction to the world to just be all this aimless crap”. No Peppa Pig, then?

Also in the chat, Grimes remarked that babies do have taste. “They definitely like some things. They don’t like other things. They fully have opinions.” 

So, what other than books on space telescopes and printed onesies is little X Æ A-XII into? “I’ve watched ‘Apocalypse Now’ and stuff with my baby,” Grimes said. “He’s into radical art. Like, he just actually is, and I don’t think it’s problematic to engage with them on that level.” 

He’s also, apparently, not into noisy music (same). While producing music for Endel, Grimes played the tunes for X Æ A-XII. “The first version, there was too many sort of sharp bells, and it caused tears and just general chaos.” As she re-jigged it, “X would smile more and stuff.”

Ah, to be a fly on the wall in the Grimes-Musk household.
