YOUR FAVORITE MTV SHOWS ARE ON PARAMOUNT+

2019 Has Already Provided Us With A Bunch Of A+ Memes

...

2019 has already proven to be a monumental year for memes. A meme-umental year? IDK.

But what we do know is that it's time we rounded up our 10 favourites thus far to give us a chuckle at how inventive the Internet can be.

10. “And I...Oop”

Jasmine Masters is “And I Oop”. Better known for competing in Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, this iconic drag queen made a meme in a YouTube video she uploaded called “Jasmine Masters handle your liquor”.

9. Cheesing

Cheesing is a similar to phenomenon to planking, albeit a lot less dangerous. It’s simply throwing a slice of that good ol’ plastic cheese on something. Like a cat. Or a baby.

The result is immediate dumbfounding.

8. Literally Nobody:

This meme is a phrasal template used in Tweets to mock people who are providing unsolicited opinions or seeking attention.

7. Let Me In (The Eric Andre Show)

This meme originated on The Eric Andre Show in his special “Near the DNC”.

A GIF of it has gone rival as a “release the beast” sort of thing and the Twitter captions have been priceless.

6. Celebrities As Things

This is a meme that makes you sit back and think, “Damn, some people have too much time on their hands” but also, “Thank goodness people have too much time on their hands.”

Twitter users have created threads of celebrities as inanimate objects, like Beyoncé as chemical flames or Cole Sprouse as booze.

We particularly like Ben Affleck as Dunkin drinks.

5. Black Hole

Science was overjoyed to receive the first image of a black hole! That’s actually a pretty big deal.

But the Internet was more overjoyed to receive this fountain of material to create one of the biggest memes of 2019. There was some solid LOLs created from this photo that resembled a blurry doughnut or bagel.

4. Does It Spark Joy?

Marie Kondo’s Netflix show Tidying Up With Marie Kondo changed the way a lot of us now live our lives. We constantly ask ourselves “Does this spark joy?” to evaluate whether it has a place in our hectic lives or not. And the Internet is doing the exact same.

3. I’m Baby

“I’m Baby” actually originated from some pretty scary circumstances. It was an autocorrected text message from a mother responding to her daughter during a home invasion, saying “I’m baby. Call 911.”

But, alas, the Internet has picked it up, flipped it over and incorporated it into our vocabulary (and we ain’t mad).

Watch out for this meme cross-over though!

2. “Someone Like You” Crowd Sing-Along

The original of this meme appeared as a TikTok in 2018, when a user positioned a Gummy Bear to then pan out into a crowd singalong while Adele’s “Someone Like You” played in the background.

Now there are endless variations and, we can’t lie, they’re pretty damn good.

1. "Some Of Y'All... And It Shows"

This one is similar to the "Literally Nobody" meme in that it's another formulaic tweet, however, these are DAMN RELATABLE.

Too many times you've found your niche past experiences have shaped who you fundamentally are, and this is the homage to those moments.

We'll say it once, we'll say it again: we love the Internet.

If this first half of the year has produced memes as hilarious as these, we can't wait to see what else is birthed before the year is out.
