‘The Batman’ Movie Starring R-Patz Has Been Delayed ‘Til 2022

We’ll now have to wait until 2022 to see Robert Pattinson as 'The Batman'.

And just like that, 'The Batman' has slipped away from us again.

The release date for The Batman starring Robert Pattinson has been pushed from this October to March 2022 due to production delays, according to The Hollywood Reporter

Production on the movie shut down in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic and, only a few days after restarting in London, was halted again after R-Patz tested positive for COVID-19.

The first trailer for The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, dropped late August. Soundtracked to Nirvana’s “Something in the Way”, it gave us a peek at R-Patz’s reinvention of Batman. Swapping the ‘confident playboy’ vibe Christian Bale and Ben Affleck brought to the character, he instead brought his signature emo. Think Good Charlotte circa 1998 or My Chemical Romance in their Black Parade heyday.

Warner Bros. also announced a heap of other changes to its release date line-up. Dune will open on October 2021 instead of this December. The sci-fi flick starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Jason Momoa dropped its first trailer last month and was met with much appreciation. Also changing: The Matrix 4 will move forward from April 1, 2022 to December 22, 2021. Superhero flick The Flash starring Ezra Miller will move from 3rd June, 2022 to 4th November, 2022.
