Emily Ratajkowski Gives Birth To Her First Baby
Readers, it's that time again: celebrity baby alert! This week it's model and actress Emily Ratajkowksi, who just welcomed a son, Sylvester Apollo Bear. (I'm picturing a small, ursine astronaut.)
You'll be pleased to know that Emily's son isn't an actual bear; his last name came from Emily's husband - Sebastian Bear-McClard.
Emily made the announcement on her Instagram this morning. "Sylvester Apollo Bear has joined us earth side" the caption reads. "Sly arrived 3/8/21 on the most surreal, beautiful, and love-filled morning of my life."
Emily first announced her pregnancy in October 2020 by way of a video for Vogue. In an essay penned for the magazine, she said that she and husband Sebastian Bear-McClard didn't want to know the gender of the baby because it was up to the child to decide how they wanted to identify. The fewer gender reveals the better, I say.
"Everyone laughs at this," she writes in the essay. "There is a truth to our line, though, one that hints at possibilities that are much more complex than whatever genitalia our child might be born with: the truth that we ultimately have no idea who — rather than what — is growing inside my belly. Who will this person be? What kind of person will we become parents to? How will they change our lives and who we are? This is a wondrous and terrifying concept, one that renders us both helpless and humbled."
Sylvester joins the the estimated 384,999 babies born on planet earth each day. Congrats!
