Introducing Australia’s First Openly Bisexual Bachelorette, Brooke Blurton

Our new Bachelorette is here and she's queer.

This one's hot off the press: the new season of The Bachelorette is upon us, and this year's leading lady is none other than the excellent Brooke Blurton!

You may know Brooke from her iconic behaviour from season six of The Bachelor starring Nick Cummins. While all signs pointed to Brooke and Nick ending up together, she ended up deciding he wasn't actually the person for her. "I need a guy that knows what he wants", she said. Good for her. Brooke also starred on the second series of Bachelor in Paradise.

Hailing from Western Australia, Brooke is a proud Noongar-Yamatji woman. She is also Australia's first openly bisexual Bachelorette. (Casting is now open and for the first time in Australian Bachelorette history, both men and women are invited to apply.)

“I am so ready for this,” Brooke says on becoming Australia’s new Bachelorette. “I’ve done it twice before and now, having the opportunity to choose my person and who I want in my life, is a truly unique and special experience.”

She adds: “My perfect person is someone that loves me for me. I hope they offer shared values and compassion for others. All the dreamy things! I’m so excited and hope that I finally find that person I’ve been waiting for.”

So do we, Brooke. So do we.

As always, the seventh series of The Bachelorette will be hosted by the legendary Osher Günsberg. While we don't yet have a date as to when Brooke will be entering our lives, we'll be sure to let you know more info as soon as it drops.

The Bachelorette will air on 10. Catch up on past seasons of the show on 10play.

Editor's Note: MTV and Network 10 are both subsidiaries of ViacomCBS.
