The Black Eyed Peas were the final VMAs performers following a series of killer acts, from Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's "Rain On Me" to BTS's explosive debut of "Dynamite". Black Eyed Peas brought the star-studded night to a close with their debut performance of "Vida Loca" and "I Gotta Feeling".
And that’s a wrap! Black Eyed Peas closed out the 2020 VMAs – their first time ever performing at the show – with a debut performance of their newest single “Vida Loca”, featuring.. glowing crotches. Yep, the group, comprised of apl.de.ap, will.i.am, Taboo, and J. Rey Soul, took to the stage with what appeared to be light-up zippers that stood out against the red lights.
After “Vida Loca”, which saw Nicky Jam in the backdrop and Tyga joining the group (surprise!), the group decided to throw it back to 2009, performing their hit single, “I Gotta Feeling”.
The show finished with will.i.am giving a shout out to the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as the late Chadwick Boseman. "Wanna send love to the first responders and the freedom fighters. Wakanda forever. Black Lives Matter."
It’s hard to believe this was the first time Black Eyed Peas had graced the MTV VMA stage. In a statement pre-show, will.i.am said he couldn’t believe it either. “Thanks to our fans who made this all possible, and we’re going to give them something very special with our first-ever performance of ‘Vida Loca’,” he said.
And, as fans can attest to, they certainly did not disappoint.
