Billie Eilish ‘Can’t Win’ With Body Image Trolls On Social Media
Billie Eilish is well known for being outspoken on body image positivity – or rather not opening a dialogue in the first place so that conversation is focused on her craft.
She has an iconic baggy-clothed look specifically designed so people can’t comment on her figure, as she revealed in her recent Calvin Klein ad.
However, in a recent interview with Dazed, Billie opened up about being unable to “win” with the body image comments she tries so hard to avoid.
At the start of this year, Billie posted a series of photos and a video to her Instagram that showed the 18-year-old in a swimsuit in Hawaii. It was one of the first times the singer had ditched her baggy wear and the fan comments got disgustingly thirsty…
“It was trending. There were comments like, ‘I don’t like her anymore because as soon as she turns 18 she’s a whore.’ Like, dude. I can’t win. I can-not win,” Billie told Dazed.
Her disconnection from her body has been at the forefront of Billie’s mind to the point she stopped looking at herself altogether.
“There was a point last year where I was naked and I didn’t recognise my body ’cos I hadn’t seen it in a while,” she said. “I would see it sometimes and be like, ‘Whose body is that?’”
When it comes to changing up her signature style, the singer can feel the backlash that will result. DAMN, people are allowed to change their clothes!!
“If I wore a dress to something, I would be hated for it,” she told the publication.
“People would be like, ‘You’ve changed, how dare you do what you’ve always rebelled against?’ I’m like, ‘I’m not rebelling against anything, really.’ I can’t stress it enough. I’m just wearing what I wanna wear. If there’s a day when I’m like, ‘You know what, I feel comfortable with my belly right now, and I wanna show my belly,’ I should be allowed to do that.”
Correct. You are Billie Eilish and you should feel comfortable to do whatever you heckin want!!
