Ryland Adams has entered the chat.
After Tati Westbrook’s explosive allegations this morning that she was “used, coerced, and manipulated” by Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star in going against James Charles and creating her fateful “Bye Sister” video, Ryan Ackland has stepped up to the plate. He’s going to batt for his fiancé – and he’s swinging hard.
His first tweet defending Shane Dawson was posted six hours ago, and he doesn’t hold back in his comments about “40 year old” Tati Westbrook. (Side note: she's actually 38; also, we don't know why it matters.) “Tati Westbrook - a master class in manipulation,” he wrote.
Ryland goes on to say that Shane could have uploaded a video about James, but that it was Tati’s drama and that she said at the time she was a “big girl” and would deal with it.
“Shane very well WOULD have posted a video exposing James had he felt so inclined. No receipts because she didn't want to expose the countless times she told Shane that she was a big girl doing this ONLY for herself.”
Ryland also goes on to imply that Tati’s move to upload the “Bye Sister” video in the first place may have been to increase sales for her vitamins brand – and that she supposedly did directly profit from Shane’s support. “Hope you enjoy those sold out vitamins that made you millions in minutes from shane's support you two faced liar”.
Things may not be peachy keen between Shane Dawson, Ryland Adams and Jeffree Star either. Ryland's sister, Morgan Adams, has also unfollowed Jeffree Star on everything, which implies that there could be some bad blood between the two camps.
This is far from Shane's first controversy – it's one of several this week alone – but this is the first one that Ryland has actively addressed. Shane's rightly faced a lot of bad press over the past few weeks following the release of his own apology video, titled “Taking Accountability”, in which the YouTuber acknowledges his previous use of blackface, 'n word’ and jokes about paedophilia.
Things took a turn for the worse for Shane after a previous clip resurfaced of the YouTuber pretending to masturbate over a poster which featured a then 11-year-old Willow Smith. He was called out en masse for the disturbing content, with the Smith family also speaking out about the incident. “SHANE DAWSON I AM DISGUSTED BY YOU,” wrote Jaden Smith at the time. (More on that here.)
Shane Dawson hasn't responded to the Smith controversy, but he has released a frantic Instagram live reacting to the Tati video and posted (then deleted) a tweet, too. According to screengrabs, it read: "THIS IS A FUCKING LIE AND IM LOSING MY MIND!!"
There's no word from Jeffree Star at all yet, which is unusual. You can read more about Tati’s claims about Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star in full here.
