Keep Calm: the FB ‘dislike’ button is coming

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is about to start developing the 'dislike' button & change the way you post...

Ever been scrolling through Facebook, stuck in a daze, and come across a post that just rubs you the wrong way? Some of you may just keep on scrolling and some may decide to formulate your best ‘comment’ ever to express your dislike. Wouldn’t Facebook life be so much easier if there was one simple button to express that dislike?

Yes it would, and that’s about to happen because Facebook finally has a 'dislike' button in the works!

Founder Mark Zuckerberg has been listening to the prayers of posters everywhere and is starting development on this addition which allows for quick and simple signalling of disapproval – hopefully this will filter out some of those b*tchy comments that constantly appear throughout our news feeds!

This is an interesting step away from Facebook’s attempts to focus on the positive idea of sharing your life with the world, but it’s a bit far-fetched to believe everyone is going to love what we post. We’ve all read those inappropriate rants ‘friends’ share, watched those awkward videos which make us uncomfortable (the ‘why did someone post this’ type of video), and cringed at cruel comments – so, of course, we’re not going to love everything we see.

Although it’s a step away from positivity, Zuckerberg explained to CNBC that “What [users] really want is the ability to express empathy. Not every moment is a good moment.”

There’s no set date for when we can expect this reshaping of the ‘like’ system, or even whether it will be called a ‘dislike’ button and what effects it will have, so don’t jump to your account thinking it’s already appeared!

All we can do is keep scrolling over our screens and ponder the possibilities this holds.

Patience is a virtue - exercise it.
