Pressing Questions With Deb Never

We accost LA artist Deb Never with a medley of life's most pressing questions.

Deb Never just gets it. Even if her music is deeply confessional, beautifully pondering her own uneasiness, she just seems to get it. Her new EP Where Have All The Flowers Gone? is a moody and evocative listen that pulls no punches, and demonstrates Deb Never’s effortless fluidity between genres – everywhere sounds like that’s where she belongs.

So, at once, Deb Never feels like she has both everything and nothing figured out. That combination made the multi-talented artist the perfect candidate for our Pressing Questions series, where she offers some serious insight into ramen, Squid Game, and finding the person who wronged her.

What is the meaning of life?

Living. Laughing. Loving.

Something COVID taught you

How to make banana bread.

Last movie you watched

Squid Game. I’m counting that as a movie because I binge watched it for 10 hours straight – it was a 10-hour movie in my head.

Best advice you’ve received?

Don’t trust your weakness.

Someone you really admire

My mum.

How do you feel about your hair?

Hot.

What happens when you die?

I’m not sure but I’d love to eat popcorn kernels before I do and ask to be cremated then see what happens.

Describe yourself in three words

Moon in Aquarius.

One person or thing you think is underrated

Taking ramen noodle packets and opening the seasoning, then pouring it into the ramen packet (dry), crunching it all up and shaking it and eating it like chips.

You can time travel to the past or the future. Where do you go and why?

Future 10000%. I need to see if any of my conspiracy theories were correct. And if we ever evolve past making whatever ugly shaped cars we’re making now.

Nature or nurture?

Both?

What do you doubt most?

When someone says “we should hang out soon".

Daily ritual you couldn't live without

Breathing, probably.

How are you at 8am

Dead asleep.

Something you're passionate about

I’m passionate about anything that interests me. It could be a person, a movie, food, music, clothes, social issues, conspiracies, etc. Currently, I’m mostly passionate about finding the person who stole $200 from me.
