Ben Affleck & Matt Damon Team Up Again For Movie About That Maccas Monopoly Competition
No, really. We didn't believe it either.
Long time bros Matt Damon & Ben Affleck are teaming up for the first time in yonks (14 years, to be exact) for a new film centred around a true crime story that involves the McDonald's Monopoly promotion that we've all spent too much time and money on.
The story is actually pretty lit: all the way back in 2001, an ex-cop managed to rig the world famous competition and effectively steal millions. The full story was published on The Daily Beast a few days ago, which you can read here.
Well, because Hollywood moves on rich people time and too fast for the rest of us commoners, Damon & Affleck's production company won the rights to the story, as Deadline reports. According to THR, they forked out USD $1 million for the story and beat out Universal, Warner Bros. and Netflix.
Affleck will direct the flick and Damon will play the corrupt cop in question. Affleck received huge acclaim for his directing in 2012's Argo, which ultimately won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
This marks the first time the two major acting stars have worked together so directly on a film since they briefly interacted on screen in 2004's Jersey Girl.
