Iggy Azalea Finally Shares Her Baby’s Name & It’s Just As Fancy As We Expected
More than a month after giving birth, Iggy Azalea has finally revealed her son’s name: Onyx. Yesterday (Tuesday), the Aussie rapper shared a recording of herself talking to her “baby boy” who coos adorably. ‘Amethyst & Onyx’ is written on the screen.
Considering Iggy’s real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly, fans worked out her new son’s name was Onyx (Pokémon fans will be pleased). One commented that gemstone-themed names “go so well together”, to which Iggy wrote: “we besties forever”.
Earlier this week, rumours had been kicking about the "Fancy" singer and reported baby daddy Playboi Carti had named their son Gilbert. Daily Mail had reported a fan account had written in a since-deleted tweet: “Iggy Azalea spotted for the first time with her and Playboi Carti's newborn son, Gilbert Carter”. And while Iggy wasn't quite ready back then to share her baby's actual name, she had to make it clear, it most certainly wasn't Gilbert, replying: “I'm okay with y'all joking 'n all but let it be known I didn't name my child that. Lmao.”
Back in June, the 30-year-old shared the news she’d given birth a few weeks back. “I have a son," she wrote on her Instagram Stories. "I kept waiting for the right time to say something, but it feels like the more time passes, the more I realize I'm always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world. I want to keep his life private but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret & I love him beyond words.”
