Interviewing people can be tricky. All too often the question you want to ask of your interviewee is the one they have mixed feelings about answering – it makes for an uncomfortable half an hour. As such, I have a weird kind of admiration for journalists who just straight-up ask something awkward and let it sit there. Enter, Andy Cohen, the new master of giving zero fucks.
The first part of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians reunion special with Andy Cohen aired yesterday. The special marks the end of their 14-year reign on hearts and minds and it was full of awkward moments. There was an onslaught of tough questions for the whole family, but no moment felt more intense than this utterly baffling interaction between exes Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick.
Andy Cohen grilled the pair on all the good stuff: what was the dealbreaker in their split (the substance abuse, Kourt said); how did the show affect their relationship (sharing so much did play a part in their relationship breakdown, Kourtney admitted); whether they’ve slept together since they split (they both say they haven’t) and - here’s the kicker - what Scott makes of Kourtney’s very public relationship with Blink 182’s Travis Barker (we won’t find out the answer to this one until the second part of the special airs next week).
Unsurprisingly, there is a pointedly weird vibe throughout Andy Cohen’s interrogation, with Scott shooting deep stares Kourtney’s way and Kourtney looking overall pretty uncomfortable (her answering that question about Scott’s infidelity comments was hard to watch).
By far the most awkward interaction (I honestly nearly gasped at Andy’s audacity) was when Andy asked Scott about his jealousy over Kourtney.
“It seems like you get really upset when Kourtney is linked with other guys..?” Andy asked. “Me? No,” Scott replied. Then, pitching for a joke that didn’t quite land, he added, “… I just want to kill them.” Gah! Scott went on to admit that no one liked Kourtney’s most recent ex, Algerian model Younes Bendjima to which the rest of the family hurriedly agreed.
Dear god, please make it stop. Anyway, if you want to take a moment today to feel better about all your awkward moments that keep you up at night then I highly recommend this video. Catch it below.
