Machine Gun Kelly reckons that his best work is yet to come. Yep, in case you hadn't heard, MGK is much more than Megan Fox's boyfriend, ok? He's also a singer, rapper, actor and director. And in a new interview with RADIO.COM, he reveals that he is yet to realise his full potential.
MGK says his destiny as a multi-hyphenate kicked off in his childhood. "I realised when I would watch movies and go to school trying to be like characters in movies. That was when I realised I didn't have a solid foundation in my home life to follow after, so I was just idolising whoever who was in my headphones or was in front of me in the TV or magazines," he said. In particular, he said it's when he "wanted to be a Jedi" that he realised he'd end up doing more than one thing. Sure.
Within the last couple of years, MGK showcased his acting chops in the Netflix movie The Dirt, directed Downfalls High, and dropped his wildly successful album Tickets To My Downfall. He even fell off the stage on SNL and as far as we know, sustained no serious injuries. What can't he do?
"Even if you think I'm good at multiple [things]", he explained, "I haven't yet given the world a version of me where I only focus on directing or acting or just music because it seems like I just haven't accessed that part of my patience yet. So I'm excited for that to open up."
He added that the success of Tickets To My Downfall has added to his optimism. "Most people don't even get to a fifth album," he said. "So the fact that was what has catapulted me into whatever realm we're in now is blowing my mind… and to know that I haven't made my best work yet is giving me a lot of hope."
So there you have it. Even Machine Gun Kelly is yet to achieve his full potential, so the rest of us are probably fine. Don't peak too early, you know? I hear it's all downhill from there.
