Sia has released an apology after she seemed to mistake Cardi B for Nicki Minaj on Twitter.
It all started when a fan sent Sia a picture of Minaj, asking if she would want to collaborate with her. (FYI: the fan’s original tweet has since been deleted).
Sia replied with: “I love @iamcardib and although this isn’t a collaboration, I would love to COLLAB with her any day!” Receipts below.
Fans were quick to correct Sia, many expressing their upset that the singer had confused the two artists. The hashtag #SiaIsOverParty began trending on Twitter.
Sia quickly released an apology, calling herself a “buffoon” for making the error.
“I totally misunderstood a tweet earlier that has resulted in me making a buffoon out of myself,” she wrote. “Sorry @NICKIMINAJ and @iamcardib if you hear about it. Can I just like you both?”
According to Page Six's reports, the artist also went on a somewhat strange tangent about Cardi B and Nicki Minaj’s ‘feud,’ which some commenters believed was an attempt to distract from her original blunder. The receipts were captured by entertainment news Twitter account, Pop Crave, before the “Chandelier” artist deleted them. See below.
Misidentification happens all too often to Black people and People of Colour; fashion watchdog Diet Prada has reported on the topic at length, some of their most memorable posts on the topic can be found here and here.
Both Nicki Minaj or Cardi B have so far stayed quiet on Sia's behaviour.
