Louis Tomlinson Explains Why He's Not Friends With Zayn Malik & We're Sobbing
Louis Tomlinson has opened up about the breakdown of his friendship with Zayn Malik and said there was a key moment when he realised the pair of them would never be close again.
The One Direction star gave an interview on Dan Wootton’s podcast where he admitted feeling betrayed when Zayn failed to show up to his X Factor performance just days after mum Johannah Deakin passed away.
At the time, the rest of the band moved their schedules around so they could support Louis at the emotional time.
"Truthfully it never really got better," Louis said. "I had a couple of calls with him after I lost my mum and all the boys had agreed to come to that performance and he didn't show, so that really bugged me.
"It was just seeing everyone there – Harry, Niall and Liam – that was what I needed that night, that support. So on the other end of the spectrum it kind of really showed. So, eh, I hope he's alright, but..."
For his part, Zayn has always maintained that there have underlying tensions in the band and previously told Vogue that he hasn’t spoken to any of the boys “for a long time.”
“That's just the way it is. There's things that happen and things that were said after I left... Snide things. Small things that I would never have expected."
As sad as it is, some friendships just aren’t meant to last forever.
