Ashton Kutcher Just Testified At A Trial Over The Murder Of His Ex-Girlfriend

...

On first glance of the pictures, it might look like Ashton Kutcher is playing a hard-hitting cop in an 80s crime drama, but he's actually testifying at an IRL trial over the murder of his ex-girlfriend.

Ashton told the court that in 2001, he went to pick up his then girlfriend Ashley Ellerin for a date. When she didn't answer the door, he left, but found out the next day that she had been stabbed to death.

"I knocked on the door and there was no answer," Ashton said in court. "I knocked again, and once again, no answer. At this point I pretty well assumed she had left for the night, and that I was late, and she was upset."

Apparently, Ashton peered inside the window and saw what he thought were red wine stains, and left.

"I saw what I thought was red wine spilled on the carpet. I wasn't alarmed because I had just been at the house warming party at her house and that was kind of a college party," he said.

Ashton said he tried to front door knob and it was locked. "I remember the next day after I heard about what happened, I went to the detectives and said, 'My fingerprints are on the door.' I was freaking out."

Ashton's ex-girlfriend Ashley was actually stabbed 47 times in the neck, stomach, chest and back by 43-year-old Michael Gargiulo, who is also charged with killing another woman in 2005.

According to Rolling Stone, Gargiulo gained Ellerin's trust by once offering to fix her flat tire. Before her death, he would show up to her house unannounced and was seen scoping out the area around her home.

Deputy District Attorney Dan Akemon called him a brutal killer whose "hobby was plotting the perfect opportunity to attack women with a knife in and around their homes."

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Gargiulo, who has pled not guilty.
