The Latest 'Bachelor' Trailer Features A Woman Airdropping Herself Into A Date

Forget grabbing a coffee; dating should always be this theatrical.

Every new promo of the upcoming season of The Bachelor feels like it’s set out to cure the world of its collective broken heart. We were most recently treated to a trailer for the upcoming season of The Bachelor that offered us a Love-Actually-inspired ode to love. (While annihilating approximately eight billion roses in the process.)

Now we’ve got a peek into the women that will be setting their sights on: 31-year-old Bachelor and model-turned-pilot Jimmy Nicholson.

The promo introduces us to a few of this year’s contestants by showcasing their creative entrance choices. The entrance™ is of course a huge deal on The Bachelor; one that can truly make or break your connection with your suitor and the Australian public. First impressions matter, people.

First up to bat is Lily, who chooses pure drama and theatrics by ascending to her date via a crane-lifted carriage dripping with rose petals. Coincidentally, this is exactly how I arrived at my first date with my partner last year. Is the airborne theme a kind of salute to Jimmy being a pilot? Who could say.

We then meet Brooke, who Jimmy describes as “breathtakingly beautiful”. Brooke arrives with a Sri Lankan love cake that they taste together while interlinking arms. It’s a bit like watching a game of Twister, but with cake. And anxiety!

Holly’s next up, and she swiftly takes Jimmy to the makeshift wine bar on the Bachie mansion’s front porch, because who doesn’t love a Savvy Blanc to calm those first date nerves?

Last, but certainly not least, we meet Jay. Jay, for some reason, insists on playing an oversized game of chess with Jimmy, but upon instructing him to move a certain piece somewhere, states he’s “done it wrong.” Is that how chess works? Do you just tell your opponent where to move their pieces? I’m genuinely asking.

In any case, we’re excited to see how these contestants do, and to see who else will be competing for the dreamy pilot’s heart. And Jimmy is too! "I am a big believer in embracing any opportunity that presents itself, especially if it has the potential to change your life for the better," Jimmy says on becoming Australia's 2021 Bachelor.

I can’t wait to see who Jimmy chooses. I’m already on Team Lily, thanks to her operatic entrance.

By the way, seeing as Zac Efron’s now an Australian local and was spotted with a Bachelor contestant, can we get him on for next season, please? His track record speaks for itself.

The Bachelor will air on Network 10, premiering Wednesday, 21 July On 10 And 10 Play On Demand. Catch up on past seasons of the show on 10 Play, and read our interview with past bachelor, Locky Gilbert, here.

Network 10 and MTV are both subsidiaries of ViacomCBS.
