Zac Efron is on a casting roll – this time landing the lead in a movie based on Stephen King’s novel ‘Firestarter’.
Zac Efron is about to be one busy dude after it was announced today he’d signed on to star in yet another upcoming flick: a movie adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Firestarter.
The actor’s role was shared in a presser from Universal Pictures, obtained by Cinema Blend. The publication said that while Zac’s role in the film wasn’t specified, they reckon he’ll be playing lead character, Andrew McGee.
If you’re not familiar with the story, it’s this: after Andrew and his wife Vicky enrol in an experiment involving a chemical called LOT-6, both develop separate psychic abilities. Years later, they have a daughter with a superpower of her own: she can telepathically make objects so hot that they catch on fire. Andrew and Vicky try to keep this on the DL, but there’s only so long it can stay a secret.
Zefron’s been killing it on the doco and acting front recently. Last year he took on the role of Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and starred in doco-travel series Down To Earth, which is still yet to air in Aus. He’ll also soon star in another adventure series called Killing Zac Efron.
Back in August, he was confirmed to be starring in a Disney+ remake of 1980s classic Three Men And A Baby.
No word yet on which project will start filming first, but either way, it’s looking like the day Zac will be leaving Aussie shores is imminent. Unless you’ve been living under your doona (no judgement), you’d know that Zac has been holed up in Byron since the start of the pandemic. In fact, it was there that he met his rumoured new GF Vanessa Valladares. The couple has since been spotted holding hands around town and coming back from a ski holiday together in Thredbo.
We wonder what Vanessa's got to say about this whole returning-to-Hollywood business. We for one are not pleased he's leaving us.
