The upcoming YouTube documentary promises an honest look into Demi Lovato's life, including the singer's traumatic overdose in 2018. Here's how to watch it in Australia.

In June 2020, an upcoming documentary entitled Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil was announced by YouTube. It promised to be a raw and candid look into the life of former Disney star and pop singer Demi Lovato. The announcement stated that the film, directed by  Michael D. Ratner, would "showcase the singer's personal and professional journey over the last three years".  The new documentary follows in the footsteps of Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, released in 2017, which gave us an honest and unflinching look into the life of Disney star, including her mental health, struggles with body image, self-esteem and drug use.

Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil will elaborate on many of the topics from Simply Complicated, but also tackle Lovato's near fatal drug overdose and subsequent hospitalisation in 2018. The drug overdose happened after six years of sobriety, and led to a host of ongoing medical complications including three strokes, a heart attack and ongoing brain damage. The documentary will explore this incident and many other aspects of Lovato's life.

The singer shared the documentary's title on social media, writing, "there has been so much that I’ve wanted to say, but knew I had to say it right."

"Over the past couple of years, I heard a few stories about my life and what people think happened," Lovato said on a YouTube Original virtual panel soon after. She goes on to say that she's wanting to "set the record straight".
