We Interrupt The Very Depressing News Cycle To Let You Know That 'The Sims' Reality Show Is On Its Way

It'll feature 12 contestants.

The Sims is getting turned into a reality show that’ll see the world’s best players competing to tell the best stories, reports The Verge.

Yep, EA announced today a new, four-episode series called The Sims Spark’d that’ll see 12 “familiar online personalities” compete on the stories they’ll create playing The Sims 4.

The panel of judges will include singer Tayla Parx, YouTube personality Kelsey Impicciche, and game developer Dave Miotke. A cool US$100,000 prize will be on the line.

“Something that has always been so special to The Sims is the community and how much our players connect with each other to celebrate, share, collaborate, and show off the things they’ve been able to make or share their stories,” Lyndsay Pearson, GM of The Sims franchise, told The Verge. “What we’re doing with Spark’d is a really interesting evolution of exactly that. It’s the same DNA, the same motivation.”

She said the new show would be much like the US’s Top Chef and Project Runway in that players will get a set of constraints and will then be judged on how creatively they manage them.

The Sims Spark’d will start airing July 17 on TBS in the US, and will be available on BuzzFeed’s Multiplayer YouTube channel July 20 for us here in Aus.
