New Bachie Locky's Search For Love Stopped Midway Through Thanks To COVID-19

The Bachelor has officially been put on hold due to the global pandemic.

Ah, man! Survivor alum Locky Gilbert’s season of The Bachelor has officially been put on hold due to the global pandemic.

According to a statement from Network 10 given to Mamamia yesterday, the production had to halt for the time being as the spread of COVID-19 continued across the country. The filming of the season was already well underway when execs were forced to pulled the pin.

“The health and safety of our participants and crew members is our number one priority. These are extremely difficult times for all Australians and for our industry, and the full extent of those difficulties will not be known for some time to come,” the statement read, as per Mamamia. “Our decision to halt production was made after considering all available options. We will resume production when it is safe to do so."

“While this decision is disappointing, we remain committed to keeping our audiences entertained and connected in these challenging times. We are also committed to ensuring the television industry remains in as strong a shape as possible so we can continue to bring Australian viewers local content.”

The news kinda sucks for all the participants – imagine how antsy you'd feel if you were one of the last women left and didn't know where you stood with the incredibly good looking Bachie Locky for months! – but in the grand scheme of things, it’s 100% the right call for now. And hey, at least Locky has a lot of thinking time on his hands.

While filming for Channel 10’s Bachelor In Paradise had already wrapped before COVID-19 took hold, word is that the release of the show will be affected by the lockdowns, and it's airing is on pause for now too. You can get a first look at the season here.
